Water Softener Systems
85 % of American households suffer from hard water, and in the Indiana and Kentucky area, we have some the hardest water in the country.
Do you know if you have hard water?
-
Do you have white, chalky residue and spots on your dishes after washing?
-
Does your clothes and linen feel rough or look dull after washing?
-
Do you have scale buildup on your faucets?
-
Is your skin dry or is your hair flat?
-
Do you have low water pressure from faucets and shower heads?
-
Does the water from your shower feel like tiny pin pricks?
-
If you suffer from any or all these symptoms then you probably have hard water!
Hard water is caused by high mineral counts of calcium, magnesium and other minerals in your water. Calcium and magnesium accumulate naturally during the water cycle, and can be present in well water or city water. The higher the amount of calcium and magnesium in your water, the higher the water hardness.
How does a water softener work?
Water softeners soften water through a process called "Ion Exchange."

-
Salt is stored in a separate tank, creating a store of salt water.
-
The salt water is used to coat resin beads in the water softener.
-
Hard water enters the water softener, and those salt covered resin beads exchange the hard water's ions with the salt's softer ions, creating soft water for your home.
This whole process is done automatically by the water softener. All you have to do is input your water's hardness level, and the water softener automatically calculates how to make your water completely soft.
